Four Mapuche political prisoners begin new hunger strike inside the prison in Angol, chile

This monday inside the Angol prison four Mapuche political prisoners began a hunger strike to demand the revision of their precautionary measures and detention system, these are Cristian Melinao, Luis Marileo, Miguel Toro and Claudio Huentecol.

The first two community members are serving time in the prison compound and were at the center of education and work (CET) of Las Rosas, but as a measure of unjust punishment they were moved to the Angol prison so Melinao and Marileo ask again to be transferred to the CET. While Toro and Huentecol are in pretrial detention and request the change of the injunction by one less burdensome.

Public statement by the Mapuche Political Prisoners on Hunger Strike, Angol Prison

We, the Mapuche Political Prisoners confined in Angol prison, Luis Marileo, Cristian Levinao, Miguel Toro and Claudio Huentecol, declare to the national and international public opinion that we have begun a hunger strike on Monday March 23 from 00:00, this is indefinite or until the government is to give a definitive answer, making the subsequent requests:

Kiñe: Luis Marileo and Cristian Levinao demand to be returned to the CET of Angol without special custody by the gendarmes as it was they who were responsible for harassing us, hereby denouncing that it was a government strategy to have us returned to Angol prison.

Epu: Miguel Toro Marin and Claudio Huentecol Huentecol demand the change of  the precautionary measure of pretrial detention to a less complex one for the duration of the investigations, denouncing that the political and business pressures hold us locked up in this prison, not having a serious investigation by the prosecution and where concrete evidence to demonstrate our innocence is held back by the prosecution, demonstrating once again the research inability of the supposed intelligence service.

Küla: At 2 days of holding this action we declare to be very firm in our demands, reaffirming that we will continue until the very end.

Meli: We call on the communities that are now mobilized for the recovery of the Mapuche territory, on the social organisations, to support us and demonstrate in any way for our causes as we have been unjustly imprisoned by the government thus satisfying the voice of businesses and state politics.

Kechu: To the Lof in Resistance we make the call to continue fighting, driving out the forestries and landowners who have usurped our territories.

Freedom for the Mapuche Political Prisoners!!!!
Demilitarization of Wallmapu!!!!
No more political persecution!!!!
Marrichiwew!!!!
