END VIOLENCE AGAINST MAPUCHE COMMUNITIES!

COLLECTING OF SIGNATURES
CALL TO ALL ORGANIZATIONS AND PEOPLE WHO
ARE FOR HUMAN RIGHTS AND PEACE
PUT AN END TO VIOLENCE AGAINST MAPUCHE COMMUNITIES!
The Mapuche communities in southern Chile historical that demand land rights are being affected in their homes by violent raids and an escalation of police violence of the Chilean state.
Between 100 to 200 uniformed officers enter into the Community using different motorized means (skunks, tanks, trucks, buses, water cannons, helicopters). Equipped with large quantities of weapons and riot guns, weapons and ammunition of different calibers, including UZI submachine (considered a weapon of war), tear gas and other supplies.
The presence of infants, children, pregnant mothers and the elderly is not taken into consideration. This persistent behavior of planned, the children, who often suffer physical and psychological abuse even more by witnessing police violence against members of their family, with serious consequences. It is difficult and impossible to start therapy as further attacks occur constantly and a relapse would be devastating.
As the basis for the excessive police actions is maintained the so called Anti-Terrorism Act 18,314 dating back to the time of the Dictatorship which allows the use of "special measures". Including minors are arrested as terrorists after the allegations of unidentified witnesses.
The communities are living with such extremely violent attacks and constant legal persecution
that even the National Ombudsman, Georgy Schubert described as "disproportionate" the performance of the Police Special Forces and called the Public Ministry to assess "the official conduct of the prosecutor Luis Chamorro", present in all the raids.
Recently, Amnesty International Chile again appealed to the authorities to respect the rights of the Mapuche people and to not let the human rights violations go unpunished, and raised the alarm that the complaints of the Communities are multiplying.
WE DEMAND
- The cessation of armed aggression and violence perpetrated against Mapuche communities that claim, demand and reclaim ancestral land rights.
- To put an end to the raids and the militarization of Mapuche communities.
- An end to the use of the Anti-Terrorism Act No. 18,314, of military justice and the double imputation against Mapuche.
- The respect of international treaties by the Chilean State such as the Convention 169 of the ILO ratified in 2008 and all agreements of enforcing United Nations Human Rights.
