Mapuche Community Wente Winkul Mapu - February 28, 2012

Mapuche Community Wente Winkul Mapu: "The State is concerned that we raise our flag of dignity and tell them that this is Mapuche territory"
February 28, 2012

The Community Wente Winkul Mapu of Lof Chequenco carries out a process of recovery of ancestral lands in the area of Ercilla, characterized by the dignity of its people to face the harsh struggle they maintain daily.

A few years ago, young families from Chequenco Lof formed this community, with an eye toward the recovery of thousands of acres that comprise the Mapuche ancestral territory and are now in the hands of Arauco forestry, Mininco and Cautín in addition to the landowner settler Juan de Dios Fuentes.

Reclaimings the Chilean State attempts to suppress, who in addition to ordering the many
military assaults by state police to their homes, has involved most members of the community in various judicial and political setups. Most have been cleared of the allegations made by prosecutors in collusion with the businessmen occupying Wallmapu.
The consequences are taken on with heads held high by the community, who without being manipulated by the Chilean governments handouts, continues to mobilize for the ancestral territory and Mapuche sovereignty over it.
