NEW SETUP BY CHILEAN PROSECUTOR AGAINST MAPUCHE YOUTH: Prosecutor Luis Chamorro accuses Leonardo Quijón with new charges

Another setup against young Mapuche Quijón Leonardo Pereira

On Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at 11:00 the young Mapuche Quijón Leonardo Pereira, 20 years, was transferred to the Court of Collipulli to declare on new facts, as always accused by the anti-Mapuche Prosecutor Luis Chamorro.

This is about a fire in July 2012 in Villa Nueva. Strangely this happens now, after half a year, just when Chamorro is cornered and weakened by the dismantling of his setups produced against younger Mapuche community members.

The judge gave three months for investigations. It is important to remember the health situation in which Leonardo finds himself and that he is already held in pretrial detention since September 2012 and is accused of involvement in the death of settler Gallardo.

Leonardo's sister also was accused of threatening the jailer's brother. Apparently in Chile any person can have more power than Justice, it suffices to be an anti-Mapuche prosecutor and the Government
gives you what you want.

TO THE NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY...
Chile shows its "True Pinochet-ist colors"

Chile violates all international conventions and treaties on indigenous peoples.

It violates the fundamental rights of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, ratified by Chile over 20 years ago. The state represses Mapuche communities regardless of the great damage of the excessive violence that they unleash against the children, physical and emotional violence, raids, confrontations, arrests of their loved ones, shootings that keep them sleepless,
the presence of police vehicles of war, police special forces who appear like beasts before the eyes of children.

The solution to the conflict that the State has against the Mapuche people is a long process. Right now the state has no will to fix it in a democratic way and even less in a fair way. This process is lengthy, requiring work and perseverance and most of all understanding that it is a fair fight for historical rights and against the capitalist system, which will continue to apply a policy of repression and genocide against the Mapuche people.

As human beings we are responsible at least to denounce this, demand justice and to not allow the infringement of the fundamental rights that apply in international society, and also to not allow them to hold unfair trials and to continue producing these setups against Mapuche youths.

We call on all people conscientious of human rights and peace to protest against the policy of militarization of Mapuche communities, persecution and harassment against Mapuche community members, to demand respect for the rights of children and that the state ends the violence against Mapuche communities.

FREEDOM FOR LUIS MARILEO, LEONARDO QUIJON, GABRIEL VALENZUELA, JORGE MARIMAN, DANIEL LEVINAO AND ALL MAPUCHE POLITICAL PRISONERS!
