Mapuche Prisoners in Temuco explain the end of their hunger strike

PUBLIC STATEMENT MAPUCHE POLITICAL PRISONERS

From Temuco prison, we, the five Mapuche political prisoners inform the national and international public opinion
the following: 
Kiñe(1): That when reaching our 23rd day on hunger strike and our 5th day of dry hunger strike, we were diagnosed to have reached an advanced stage in the deterioration of our physical and mental health, compromising the normal operation of our hearts, lungs, kidneys, as well as our clarity and ability to communicate. Emphasizing the already more severe state of our peñi Leonardo Quijón and Cristian Levinao for whom cardiac arrest was imminent, according to medical diagnosis.

EPU(2): Emphasizing that the above it is purely a result of the Government's intention zero to solve our a transfer demands for, as is the right of any inmate, at being in preventive detention or serving a sentence in the CCP closest to their families; it is only for the presence in the Temuco prison, in the hours of Monday morning, of the Director of the National Human Rights Institute, Lorena Fries Monleón, as guarantor between us and the government, to assure our transfer to the jail of Angol, not later than Thursday, October 25 of the present year, if we would stop with our dry hunger strike.  

Küla(3): Considering our worrisome state of health, we the Mapuche Political Prisoners on dry hunger strike and our spokespeople have decided to lay down our dry hunger strike today, October 23 at 11 am, waiting to stabilize ourselves to be transferred no later than Thursday October 25. If this agreement is not carried out, we will inform all our peñi and lamgen that we will take up our measure of presure early on Friday 26 October. This is why we ask for your full support and solidarity with our families, who guard our recovery from the outskirts of Temuco prison, until our transfer is real.

From Temuco prison, give our maximum strength to our peñi that are on a hunger strike in the prison of Angol. Understanding the difficult process in which they are, all thisbeing, the sole responsibility of the Chilean State for their endless political persecution and racism towards our people and our struggle for the freedom of our people and our territory.
