From Temuco prison, where we have been four days on hunger strike against the complete lack of intent
of the Chilean State to respond to our demands as Mapuche political prisoners, we inform the national and international public opinion of the following:
Kiñe(1): That according to medical checkups performed at the infirmary of Temuko CPC, on our fourth day of this hunger strike, we have dropped an average of 3 kilos each, emphasizing that our hunger strike is total and we only ingest liquids like water and mate.
Epu(2): We report that this condition is exacerbated in the case of our Peni Leonardo Quijón, who since before assuming this hunger strike, was already in an advanced state of malnutrition and with serious health problems because of the cowardly attack he suffered by the militarized police of Chile, more than two years ago, and yet, still he has more than 200 shotgun pellets in his leg.
Küla(3): We denounce to the national and international public opinion, that since our second day on hunger strike we have begun to suffer harassment and ridicule from Chilean Gendarmerie officials who brazenly walk around with food, urging us to break the decision we have taken together, as the only remedy to enforce our rights. Moreover, they force us to receive our families in the gymnasium of the prison compound, next to all inmates, who carry out their normal activities with their families, like there is breakfasting or having lunch.
Meli(4): We remind you that we have made this decision, despite being difficult for us and our loved ones, responsibly, clarifying that this hunger strike will not be abandoned until our demands are met.
- THE IMMEDIATE TRANSFER OF US, THE 5 MAPUCHE POLITICAL PRISONERS TO THE CCP OF THE CITY OF ANGOL, AS THE PLACE OF IMPRISONMENT NEAREST TO OUR FAMILIES.
- AN END TO THE HUMILIATING AND DEGRADING SEARCHES CONDUCTED BY THE GENDARMERIE OF CHILE ON OUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS WHO VISIT US.
- THE REVISION OF PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES, APPLYING FOR HOUSE ARREST FOR OUR PEÑI(BROTHER) LEONARDO QUIJÓN, WHO, DAY BY DAY FACES A WORSE STATE OF HEALTH, SUFFERING AT THIS STAGE OF THE HUNGER STRIKE RECURRING TACHYCARDIA AND SEVERE PAIN IN HIS LEG.
- THE DISQUALIFICATION OF THE PROSECUTOR CHAMORRO FOR ALL MAPUCHE CAUSES, FOR NOT HAVING THE ETHICAL MAKE UP TO GUARANTEE US A FAIR AND TRANSPARENT TRIAL.
Kechu(5): From the Temuko prison, we inform you that we will not give up this decision we have made, our territorial demands are just and vital to the life of our people, they may involve us in dirty setups to stain the struggle of our people, but we want to make it clear, that our conscience is clear, our hands are not stained with blood, because it is the big businessmen of this country, the big landowners, the State and the politicians who do violence daily to our mothers, our sisters and children,
them only from you can expect such low and dirty acts, like shooting a child, threaten and do violence against it. After so many acts of violence, abuse and murder, no one who is part of this circus that is the Chilean state, can have a clear conscience.
Our upbringing has made us strong and we will go until the last consequences to regain our freedom and our territory.
From Temuco prison, we give our maximum support to peñi carrying 39 days on hunger strike in the prison of Angol, who just like us demand fair and clear trials.
